ADVANCE RELEASE
Mattschoss Grenache 2019
Barossa Valley
High on a hilltop in the Eden Valley, Joel Mattschoss has taken on the rugged, unforgiving soils and landscape- and is winning. It’s got to be one of the most magical sites in all of South Australia and we’re huge fans of Joel’s work. For the first time, we have hand-bottled the 2019 and it is now available as an Advance Release.
Only 720 bottles produced

Medium weight with pronounced violet, wild raspberry and spice on the nose. Intense, mineral laden, multi-layered and beautifully fruited – a fine reflection of a remarkable site.
Alcohol 14.5%
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Viticulture
Right across South Australia, the 2019 vintage will be remembered as a very challenging one. Very dry conditions persisted throughout the growing season while some areas also had to contend with frost, hail and wind – all of which reduced the crop but helped increase concentration and quality.
Winemaking
The 2 vineyard blocks use 3 different clones of Grenache which are hand-picked and wild fermented together in concrete. Very gentle extraction focuses on aromatics rather than tannins. Once pressed, the wine was transferred to older, 500l puncheons. No fining or filtration.
